About this Collection

Entry House & Garden

The entry house is the first of 20 buildings in the project. At the start of the game the player is birthed into the project through an underground tunnel that leads to a small house. As the player leaves the house it is revealed to be an old bunker from the defensive culture of civilization III that is overlaid on the ruined castle foundations of Civilization II. There is a final softer inner layer of wood, metal and glass built by the narrator, a craftsman and mystic. The WW II bunker architecture provides controlled views to a cultivated garden amidst the ruins of the castle rooms. It is a garden of discovery and learning.

Concrete Cathedral & Quarry

A more complex puzzle zone is found in a lime stone quarry showing layers of time in the texture and scale of excavation leading to the waters edge.  Nested within the walls of the rock face is a country church. The church has weathered with time and the existing walls steeple and floor are host to a new use-a concrete factory. The quarry provides fodder for aggregate and lime and the solid stone walls of the Civ II church provide a strong foundation for the new concrete walls, steel roof and equipment required for the factory to operate. Projecting sun patterns and simulacra interact with the structure and equipment to create an integrative environment for game play.
